Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ
May the peace and courage of the Lord Jesus be with you all during this new year of 2014.
Re: Prayer Vigil and Mass for the success of the cause of Benedict Daswa: 15-16 February 2014
We are all looking forward to the Prayer Vigil with Mass at Mater Dei Pastoral Centre near Mokopane in the Diocese of Polokwane.
It will begin on Saturday evening 15 February at 6pm and end on Sunday morning at 6 am.
I appeal to all of the Catholics in the Diocese of Tzaneen to make a special effort to participate in this historic event because we believe Benedict Daswa should be officially recognised as a blessed martyr of the Catholic Church. I expect that every parish will be planning to attend this Prayer Vigil and organising common transport together with their parish priests.Communion services or Liturgies of the Word can be organised for the parishes on Sunday 16 Feb for those who will not be able to participate in the Vigil but I expect all our priests and religious to attend the Vigil because we are the ones hosting it.
I would like to draw your attention to the following requests:
Please take candles with you which we will be lighting during the Vigil.
A collection will be taken during the Mass for the cause of Benedict Daswa to help pay for the costs of this event. Please be generous with your contribution.
The special Novena Prayer beginning on Thursday 6th February until Friday 14 February ie nine consecutive days of prayer before the Vigil should be recited.Parishes can include this prayer during the prayers of the faithful in the celebration of the Eucharist and during other prayer meetings during those nine days.
It is our conviction that God will answer the prayers we raise for the success of the cause.
Let us prepare ourselves well for this wonderful event of grace the Lord has planned for us.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and Blessed Joseph, pray for us.
May God bless you
